Nugget

Nugget needs help... and a lot of it!

This little 18 pound terrier mix came from a
horrible environment where he suffered neglect and an accident that left him broken...

Please help us help Nugget.

If you are in a position to help him...
donations can be mailed to:

Here is a little history of where Nugget came from:
The previous owner also had two other large dogs on the property that the animal control officers ordered him to take to the veterinarian for treatment because they were so emaciated, flea ridden and weak.
Once the man got the two large dogs to the vet, he basically got the bare minimum done and refused the recommended treatment and took the dogs home (without paying his vet bill) ...from what I understand animal control is still working on that situation and hopefully those two dogs get a chance at a decent life as well.
In comes NUGGET in to the picture (photo above in his hospital cage at the Vet prior to surgery)....
A few weeks passed. The same man walked into the vet with Nugget in his arms and Nugget's back leg dangling and broken. Since this person had not neutered Nugget, at one year of age, Nugget decided to try to scale the fence to get to the female next door.... and got caught at the top of the chain link fence. This broke his femur in 3 places and he was dangling and screaming from the fence - luckily someone heard him and got him down in time.
After examining Nugget and seeing the thin condition, the fleas, the dirt and the obvious neglect in addition to the horrific injury - the Veterinary office convinced the owner to surrender Nugget to them, and that's how we came into the picture. Special thanks to Anderson Veterinary Clinic for donating his neuter, his vaccinations and saving his life!
Nugget needed our help...so we are going to get him from the vet where he had his surgery this past Friday. But with him comes a huge vet bill of $986. This far exceeds our veterinary budget for the month.
Although we just had two fundraisers over the past couple of months, neither of them brought in what we had hoped, due to tough economic times, and the monies that were raised have been designated for our regular veterinary and animal care costs, so at this point.... we find ourselves having to ask for help to bail Nugget out from the Vet and give him another chance at life.
Nugget also needs a foster home immediately. We are looking for a quiet place for this sweet boy to rest and heal and then begin to search for just the right family to give him the love and attention he deserves.
Nugget is a terrier mix and only weighs 18 pounds. During the whole vet exam, in spite of the severe pain he was in, he smiled at the vets and wagged his tail.

We now have our application forms online.
